Tomato pieces being fried for Tomato Chutney
Heat 1 table spoon oil in a pan. Add rai, jeera, urad dal and chana dal to it. Fry until the dals turn golden color. Add green chillies and fry for few sec. Remove the ingredients into a bowl and allow to cool. Now in the same oil fry the chopped tomato pieces. Add salt and tamarind to it. Switch off the flame when the tomatoes are cooked and start leaving oil. let cool.
Dals and green chillies being grinded for Tomato Chutney
First grind the fried dals, green chillies in a mixer to fine powder. To it add the cooked tomato pieces. Grind coarsely and take it into a bowl.
Heat 2 tea spoons of oil in a pan. Add Rai, Hing, red chillies and curry leaves. When rai starts spluttering add the thadka to the chutney.
Tasty Tomato Chutney is ready........Garnish with fresh chopped coriander leaves.....Tastes yummy with dosa, idli, rice or rotis...
