Tamater ki Sabji (Tamata-Ullipaya koora)

Ingredients :

  • 250 gms Tomatoes
  • 2 large Onions
  • 3 to 4 green chillies
  • 1 tea spoon red chilli powder
  • 1 tea spoon salt  (as per taste)
  • 1 tea spoon dhaniya powder
  • 1/4 haldi
  • 1/2 sugar (optional)
  • 1 tea spoon rai
  • 1 tea spoon jeera
  • 1 tea spoon urad dal
  • few curry leaves
  • 5 o 6 garlic flakes (mashed)
  • 1 and half table spoon oil

Clean and wash tomatoes.  Chop finely.  Chop Onions and green chillies.  Now heat oil in a pan.  Add rai, jeera and urad dal.  When rai starts spluttering add garlic flakes (mashed) and curry leaves.  Saute and add chopped onions and green chillies.  Fry in a medium flame until the onions turn pink.  Add red chilli powder, dhaniya powder, haldi, sugar and salt to it.  Mix well fry for a while and add the finely chopped tomatoes to it.  Stir, close the lid and cook in a medium flame until the tomatoes are totally cooked.
