If you boil vegetables in water, do not throw the water, keep it to make gravies.

Take tomatoes in a large bowl and cover with boiling water leave it for about 5 minutes. Take out one by one, piercing them with a sharp knife, the skin will peel off easily.

To make whiter and crisper potato wafers add some alum crystals and salt to the water in which you drop the wafers for soaking.
Store potatoes in a cool dark place.  Place an apple in the basket to prevent potatoes from budding.  Change the apple after a week.

*  To mash potatoes finely, mash when they are little hot.

Peeling or scraping ginger with the back of spoon is an easy way to peel ginger. Scrape the ginger with the inside of a spoon, getting the edge of the spoon into the crevices of the ginger. The skin will come off with a gentle scrape.


*  Add a small piece of crushed ginger to tea while boiling for the extra zing especially during the winter

*  To peel the skin of almonds easily soak them in warm water for 10 to 15 mins.

grind to crumbs in the mixie.
