Jantikalu (Chakralu,chakli or murukku)

Ingredients for Jantikalu (Chakralu,chakli or murukku)


  • 1 cup besan (gram flour)
  • 2 cups rice powder
  • 1 tea spoon chilli powder
  • 1 tea spoon salt (as per taste)
  • 2 tea spoons Ajwain (carom seeds)
  • 4 tea spoons Til (sesame seeds)
  • a pinch of hing
  • 1 tbsp of ghee
  • Oil for deep fry

Rice flour and basen mixture for   Jantikalu (Chakralu,chakli or murukku)             

Sieve Besan and Rice powder and take into a bowl.  Head a table spoon of oil and add to it.  Mix well.  Add sesame seeds, carom seed, hing, chilli powder and salt.  Mix well and make a soft dough adding sufficient water.

Dough for Jantikalu (Chakralu,chakli or murukku)

Heat Oil in a frying pan. Fill the dough in a chakli maker and make chakli directly in the oil (or on a plastic sheet greased with oil and drop carefully into the oil)

Deep fry the Jantikalu (chakli) until golden color in a medium flame and drain on a kitchen paper. let it cool completely.

Andhra Style Jantikalu (Chakli, Murukku, Chakralu) are ready........Store it in a air tight container....
