3 cups rice powder

1 cup maida

3 tea spoons green chilly ginger paste

2 table spoons chana dal saoked

3 table spoons moong dal soaked

1 onion finely chopped

2 table spoons fresh coriander, curry leaves     

   and mint finely chopped

2 tea spoons salt (as per taste)

1 tea spoon jeera (cumin seeds)

1 table spoon ghee (butter)

Oil for deep fry

All the ingredients mixed


Take rice powder in a large bowl.  To it add maida, salt and add ghee (butter) and  mix well.  Now add jeera, soaked dals, green chilly ginger paste, chopped onions, finely chopped coriander, curry leaves and mint leaves.  Mix all the ingredients well and make a stiff dough adding sufficient water.

Make lemon size balls.  Take a plastic sheet, apply oil to it.  Place the ball on the oil coated plastic sheet.

 Press the balls in a poori presser

Make small poori size circle with the help of a Poori presser or by hand.

Deep fry until golden brown

Now deep fry in oil until golden brown in a medium flame.  Drain cool and store it a air tight container.  Crunchy, spicy Rice Chekkalu are ready.............. Enjoy with hot tea or coffee..........
