Punukulu (Andhra bajji)

Ingredients

If  you have  Dosa dough at home this snack item can be prepared easily.  Other wise

Ingredients For Dosa batter:

1 cup urad dal

2 cups rice

1 tea spoon  methi (fenugreek)

Wash and soak 1 cup udat and 1 tea spoon methi for 5 to 6 hours.  Wash and soak rice in a separate vessel for 5 to 6 hours.  Grind  udat dal and rice separately and mix them adding 2 tea spoons of salt to it.  Leave the batter for 10  to 12 hours in a covered vessel or container.

Ingredients:

Dosa dough          ..            1 cup

Salt                      ..            1 tea spoon

(as per taste)        ..            1 tea spoon

chilly and ginger

paste                   ..            1 teaspoon

Onion                  ..            1 (finely chopped)

Curry leaves         ..            6 to 8 leaves

Dhaniya leaves     ..            Finely cut

Maida                  ..            2 table spoons

Oil                      ..            For deep fry

Method:

Take a large bowl, put all the ingredients, (except oil) Mix well and make a thick  batter.

Take sufficient oil in a pan for deep fry.  Drop lemon size balls into the oil, and fry until golden brown.

Serve Punukulu  hot with tomato sauce or any other chutney.(coconut or dhaniya chutney)

I am sure you all would like Punukulu which are one of  the most common snacks of Andhra Pradesh.
