Sorakaya vadalu/Loki ke vade

Ingredients for Sorakaya vadalu/Loki ke vade


  • 1 cup grated bottle gourd
  • 1 cup rice powder
  • 2 tea spoons chilli-ginger paste
  • 1 onion finely chopped
  • 1 tea spoon jeera
  • few curry leaves
  • 2 table spoons moong dal (soaked for 2 hours)
  • 2 table spoons chana dal (soaked for 2 hours)
  • 1 tea spoon salt (as per taste)
  • coriander leaves finely chopped
  • Oil for deep fry

Take a bowl and mix 1 cup grated bottle gourd, rice powder, chilli ginger paste, chopped onions, curry leaves, moong dal, jeera, chana dal, salt and coriander leaves and make a stiff dough.  (no need to add water)

Divide the dough to equal no. of lemon size balls.  Take a plastic sheet.   Apply oil to it. Press each ball in a poori presser to a round circle.  (you can see in the above pic)  You can either make small poori size circles, on a greased plastic sheet with hand also.

Heat oil for deep fry in a  pan.  Deep fry the vadas to golden color.  Remove from oil, drain on a kitchen paper .
