Doodhi ka halwa (Sorakaya halwa)

Ingredients for Doodhi ka halwa (Sorakaya halwa)

Ingredients:   (serves 4)

  • 1 bowl grated loki (doodhi/sorakaya/bottle gourd)
  • 1 bowl milk
  • 3 to 4 table spoons sugar (as per taste)
  • Dry fruits for garnish
  • 2 table spoons desi ghee 
  • 2 to 3 cardamoms (powdered)

Heat 2 table spoons of desi ghee in a thick bottomed pan.  Fry dry fruits until golden color, remove from the ghee and keep them aside.

Grated loki being fried for Doodhi ka halwa (Sorakaya halwa)

In the same ghee fry the grated loki until transparent.

Milk add to grated loki for preparing Doodhi ka halwa (Sorakaya halwa)

Now add 1 bowl milk to it and mix well.  Allow to cook in a medium flame.  Stir in between and cook until the milk is completely absorbed.

Sugar added to the cooked loki for preparing Doodhi ka halwa (Sorakaya halwa)

Add 3 to 4 table spoons of sugar (as per taste).  Stir well.  Cook until the halwa becomes dry.

Doodhi ka halwa (Sorakaya halwa)      

Now add Cardamom powder and fried dry fruits mix, take it into a serving bowl and garnish with grated kaju and badam.

Doodhi ka halwa (Sorakaya halwa)/loki ka halwa/bottle gourd halwa is ready............serve hot or cold...........enjoy............
