Moong ki  dal(pesarapappu tamata)

Ingredients for Moong ki dal(pesarapappu tamata)


  • Moong Dal 1cup
  • Tomatoes 2 nos
  • Onion 1 Onion
  • Hari Meerchi 2  to 3 nos
  • Mirchi powder  ½ teaspoon
  • Salt to taste
  • Haldi pinch
  • Sambar Powder ½ teaspoon
  • Dhaniya Powder ½ teaspoon
  • Water 3 cups
  • Rai and jeera ½ teaspoon each
  • 2 red chillies
  • Hing a pinch
  • Oil 2 table spoons


Take daal, tomatoes and onions in a pressure cooker. Add Mirchi, Haldi, Dhaniya Powder to it. Add water and cook till 3 whistles.

Heat the oil over medium heat in a heavy sauce pan . When oil is hot, carefully add rai, jeera, dry red mirchi, hing. Once it splutters add the dal to the pan. Now add the sambar powder.

Cook it for few more minutes and serve it garnished with dhaniya.  Tastes good with rice and rotis.  The best combination is Rice, Moongdal and Fried Aloo curry.  (Pappu and Bangaladumpa vepudu).  Try once enjoy....
