Tilapia Fish and Spring Onion Pulusu (Fish cooked with spring onions in tamarind pulp) Ulli Paraka Chepala Pulusu Ingrdients : for thadka 1 tsp Rai 1 tsp jeera 1 tsp urat dal two red chillis 6 garlic pods few curry leaves
for the paste 1/2 cup chopped onions 1/2 tsp methi seeds 2 to 3 tsp coriander seeds 2 tsp til 1 tsp jeera 2 table spoons chopped coconunt
for marinating the fish 1/4 tsp haldi 1 tsp ginger garlic paste 1/2 red chilli powder 1/2 tsp salt 1 tsp oil lemon juice
Ingrdients for the pulusu: 2 bunches spring onions 2 tomatoes 2 to 3 green chillis 8 pc of Tilapia fish Oil a lemon size tamarind ball soaked in warm water 1 tsp red chilli powder 1 tsp coriander powder 1 tsp garam masala salt to taste 1 tsp sugar /optional
Heat 2 tsp of oil in a pan and add a tsp of rai 1/2 tsp of methi, 2 tsp of coriander seeds and fry them. Now add 2 tsp of til and fry. Now add 2 tbsp of coconut peices and fry all the ingredients together. Now add the chopped onions and fry until the onions are done. Allow the ingredients to cool down and grind them to fine paste
Wash the fish and keep it aside. Now take the ingredients for marination. Mix them well and apply to the fish pieces. leave them for 10 to 15 mins
Heat some oil in a pan and fry the marinated fish in a medium flame. Fry both the sides. it takes hardly 3 mins to cook on each side of the fish.
Now take another pan and heat 2 table spoons of oil. Add Rai, Jeera and Uradal. Fry them and add mashed garlic pods red chillis and curry leaves. Fry until you get a nice aroma and add the chopped spring onions. Add salt, Red chilli powder and coriander powder to it. Add the chopped tomatoes. close the lid and cook until the tomatoes are done. Now add the ground paste to it. Fry it for a while until the raw smell is gone. Now add the extract pulp from the soaked tamarind and add it to the cooked paste.
Add a tsp of sugar to cut the tangyness ...it is optional. Boil it for 5 to 6 mins and add the cooked fish pieces and cook for 2 to 3 mins in a medium flame and switch off the flame
Tasty Tilapia Fish Pulusu is ready....Take it into a serving bowl and serve with rice or chapatis...enjoy.
