Dondakaya Masala/Kunduru Masala curry

Ingredients
MethodWash and make vertical slits to the kunduru/dondakayalu. Season with 1/2 tea spoon of salt. Steam them in a pressure cooker for 2 whistles and keep them aside. (you can also par-boil them)
Heat 2 tea spoons of oil in a pan. Add jeera, whole dhaniya, cardamom, cloves, cinnamon, ground nuts, cashews and khas khas. Fry until they turn to golden color. Remove and keep them aside. Now to the same add the chopped onions. Fry until they turn translucent. Now grind all the fried ingredients along with tamarind, ginger and garlic to fine paste adding sufficient water. To this paste add red chilli powder, salt to taste , haldi and sugar. Mix well and suff the masala to the kunduru's/dondakayalu. Now heat 3 table spoons of oil in a pan. Fry the left over masala in the oil and add the stuffed kunduru/dondakayalu to it. Mix well, add a cup of water and close the lid. Cook in a low flame until the curry is done. Within 10 to 12 mins the curry will be ready to serve. Take it into a serving bowl and garnish with fresh chopped coriander leaves..... Tasty Dondakaya Masala/Kunduru Masala curry is ready....... Tastes good with rice, rotis or chapatis.......... |
