                                    Paschathapam.
                       
                     
ernakulam enru azhaikkum azhkana ooru,
vellaikkaran kudiyiruntha chinnan chiru nadu.

chittur roadil engal ottuperai veedu,
nan piranthu valanthu vantha vellai manal nadu.
nan paditha pallikoodam  mama veettu pakkam,
madyanam bell adithal mama veedu poven.

mamiyo enakkaga vasalile nippal,
asaiyaga chadam pisainthu kayyile koduppal.

anjam vakuppil padikkumpodhu nadantha intha sambhavam,
ippothu ninaikkumpodhu varuthe enakku sangadam.

pada pusthakathil varum kullanariyin chirukathai,
val irukkum oru padam, val illamal oru padam.

kalyaniyum parvathiyum irattai piravikal,
neelamana  mudiyum pinni iruvarum varuvaargal.

dideer enru kalyanikku kaachal jwaram vanthathu,
aval veettil aval thalayai mottapottu vittargal.

mottathalai kalyaniyo pallikoodam vanthal,
avalai pathu nanum namittu chiri chirithen.

dideer enru vanthathu enakku kullanariyin napakam,
valu pona kullanariyum kalyaniyum onru,
valirukkum kullanariyum parvathiyum onru.

padathai katti pakkathil irukkum charuvidam chonnen,
chandaikkari charuvo amaithiyaga kettal.

illave illai teacher charuthan chonnal,

en appavi mugathai parthu nambivittal teacherum,
charu than pollathaval  enru teacher nambinal.

chappittu thirumbi vanthal charu miga kushiyudan,
veliyileye nil enral charuvidam teacherum.
noothettu hukki podavendum enrum chonnal,
charuvo pavam aval, vikki vikki azhuthal.

noothettu hukki pottu kalum kaiyyum valithathu,
apamanam thangamal mugam pothy ninral.

cheyyatha kuttathirkku charu bali aginal,
chaitha thavarai ninaithu nan kooni kuruki ninren.

பச்சாதாபம் 
                        
எர்ணாகுளம் என்று  அழைக்கும் அழகான ஊரு,
வெள்ளைக்காரன்,குடியிருந்த சின்னம் சிறு நாடு..

சித்தூர்  ரோடில் எங்கள் ஒட்டுப்பெரை  வீடு,,
நான் பிறந்து வளந்து வந்த வெள்ளை மணல்   நாடு ,

.நான் படித்த பள்ளிக்கூடம்,மாமா வீட்டு பக்கம்,
மத்தியானம் பெல் அடித்தால்,மாமா வீடு போவேன்,

மாமியோ எனக்காக வாசலிலே நிப்பாள்,
ஆசையாக சாதம் பிசைந்து கையிலே குடுப்பாள்.


அஞ்சாம் வகுப்பில் படிக்கும்போது நடந்த இந்த சம்பவம்,
இப்போது நினைக்கும்போதும் வருதே எனக்கு சங்கடம்.

பாட புஸ்தகத்தில் வரும் குள்ளநரியின் சிறுகதை,
வால் இருக்கும் ஒரு படம்,வாலில்லாமல் ஒரு படம்.

கல்யாணியும் பார்வதியும் இரட்டை பிறவிகள்,
நீளமான முடியும் பின்னி இருவரும் வருவார்கள்.

திடீர்  என்று கல்யாணிக்கு காச்சல் ஜவரம் வந்தது,
அவள் வீட்டில் அவள் தலையை மொட்டை போட்டு விட்டார்கள்.

மொட்டைதலை கல்யாணியோ பள்ளிக்கூடம் வந்தாள்,
அவளை பாத்து நானும்  நமிட்டு சிரி சிரித்தேன்.

திடீர் என்று வந்தது எனக்கு குள்ளநரியின் ஞாபகம்.
வாலு போன குள்ளநரியும்  கல்யாணியும் ஒன்று.
வாலிருக்கும் குள்ளநரியும்  பார்வதியும் ஒன்று.

படத்தை காட்டி பக்கத்திலிருக்கும் சாரு விடம் சொன்னேன்,
சண்டைக்காரி சாருவோ அமைதியாக கேட்டாள்.


மத்தியானம் லஞ்சுக்காக பெல் அடித்துவிட்டது.
நானும் என் பாகுடன் மாமாவீடு சென்றேன்.


திரும்பி வந்து என் பெஞ்சில் அமைதியாக         அமர்தேன் ,
சித்தநேரம் கழித்து வந்தாள் டீச்சரும் ஒரு கம்புடன்.

யார் அந்த ஜெயலக்ஷ்மி ,உடனே வா என் பக்கம் ,
போச்சு போ சண்டைக்காரி சாருவின் திருவிளயாடளிது.
எப்படியும் சமாளிப்போம் பொய்யொன்று சொல்லி.

சொன்னாயா சாருவிடம் கல்யாணியை பத்தி?
இல்லவே இல்லை டீச்சர் ,சாரு தான் சொன்னாள்,
யாரிடவும் சொல்லாதே என்றும் என்னிடம் அவள் சொன்னாள்.
வாலு போன குள்ளநரி மொட்ட தலை கல்யாணியாம்,
வாலிருக்கும் குள்ளநரி முடியிருக்கும் பார்வதியாம்.

என் அப்பாவி முகத்தை பார்த்து நம்பிவிட்டாள் டீச்சறும்,
சாருதான் பொல்லாதவள்  என்று டீச்சர் நம்பினாள்.

சாப்பிட்டு , திரும்பி வந்தாள் சாரு மிக குஷியுடன்,
வெளியிலேயே ,நில் என்றாள்  சாருவிடம் டீச்சரும் .
நூத்தெட்டு ஹக்கி போடவேண்டும் என்றும் சொன்னாள்.
சாருவோ பாவம் ,அவள் விக்கி விக்கி அழுதாள்,

நூத்தெட்டு ஹக்கி போட்டு காலும் கையும் வலித்தது.
அபமானம் தாங்காமல் முகம் பொத்தி நின்றாள்.

செய்யாத   குற்றத்திற்கு சாரு பலியாகினாள் 
செஞ்ச தவறை நினைத்து  நான் கூனி  குறுகி நின்றேன்.

Paschathapam---means repentance.

It was a true incident when i was studying in 5th std at Ernakulam Govt.Girl's high School.
I was about nine years old then.I was a very quiet girl.I was not very social and I had no close friends.

One day my class teacher (english period) was absent .So we were asked to go and sit with the section A class students. 
When the teacher was teaching us the lesson of a fox whose tail was cut in a trap when it entered a place to steal some thing.In the Book there were two pictures .One was the fox with full bushy tail and the other was of the fox without the tail.One girl named Charu was sitting beside me.
There were two girls (twins) named Kalyani and Parvathy in the section A.both girls had long dark beautiful hair.Suddenly Kalyani got typhoid and her parents had to shave her head after the recovery from fever.
I saw Kalyani without her beautiful hair  and Parvathy with full long hair.So i suddenly was surprised to see the pictures of the fox with tail and without tail.I showed it to Charu  commenting that one is Kalyani and the other is Parvathy.
Actually the girl Charu is a friend of these girls.I did not know this because i had come to this section only for one day.

When the bell rang for the Lunch time I went to my uncles house for taking my lunch.When going I saw Charu was gossipping something with these girls.
I had a fear that i would be punished by the teacher that day.
I came back after the lunch time and sat quietly on my bench.The teacher came and was shouting loudly who is this jayalakshmy and asked me to come near her.Fortunately the girl Charu had not returned to the class when the teacher came.The teacher asked me did i tell about K and P to Charu?
Suddenly i lied her that Charu only told me so and she had also requested me not to tell anyone about her comment.
Poor teacher trusted my version.When the girl Charu came to the class after her lunch,the teacher did not allow her to enter the class and asked  her to do hundred ukki.s(kneeling down) in front of everybody,which she had to do with tears in her eyes.
Although i had saved myself with a presence of mind lie,for the timebeing,i had repented for it several times when i grew up telling myself that for no fault of her Charu got the punishment from the teacher.
It is the meaning of my poem in tamil Paschathapam.
