Kaddu-Bhendi Khatta meetha(Gummadi-Bendakaya pulusu)
Clean and cut Kaddu into medium pieces. Soak tamarind in Luke-warm water for 5 to 10 mins. and make the pulp.
Heat 2 to 3 table spoons of Oil in a frying pan. Add rai, Jeera , urad dal and red chillies. Let them splutter, add finely chopped onions, green chillies and curry leaves and stir. Fry until the onions become pink. Add mashed garlic, chilli powder and haldi and stir for a while. Add Kaddu, Bhendi and Tomato pieces, stir for a while. Add salt and half a cup of water close the lid , allow to cook for 10 mins. When the vegetables are cooked add tamarind pulp and Jaggery and cook for 5 to 6 mins. Add Methi Jeera powder,and cook for 2 mins. you can feel a nice aroma of the Kaddu-Bhendi Curry.
Garnish with Dhaniya and serve Hot. This a special dish from Andhra which is called as Gummadi-Bendakaya pulusu, which is sweet, sour and hot, tastes delicious with Rice, Rotis and Chapathi. Try once, you will surely like it.....
